Angioplasty

Aug 20th 2008

Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is a procedure whose purpose is to eliminate blockages in the blood vessels of the heart.  This procedure has come into very common usage over the last 25 years and has undergone many improvements in that time.  The procedure is generally performed to relieve symptoms of chest discomfort (angina) and can be used to restore normal blood flow at the time of a heart attack.
