Aug 20th 2008
Atrial
fibrillation is one of the most common arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm) of
the heart and the most common “sustained” arrhythmia,
meaning that it does not go away without treatment. Atrial fibrillation
affects more than 2 million Americans but is common worldwide. It can
affect individuals of any age although it is more common in older
individuals. It is also more common in those with other heart disease or
heart disease risk factors.
